Hi, welcome to my blog and, well, My Journey!
Firstly, this is my personal blog so I apologise in advance if any of my articles are self-indulgent and focus more on my interests and passions than what I think will be well-received and popular with any readers that have the (mis?)fortune of stumbling across my site.
Who Is Hank? And Why Is He On A Journey?
I guess I should tell you a bit about myself and my blog. I’m a 30-something guy trying to “find myself” travelling the world; a crazy idea I dreamed up as my 30th was fast approaching. In my youth and naivety I’d made the catastrophic mistake of graduating uni in a field I had little passion for, except for the promise of the wealth it held, and falling straight into a 9-5 (or 7-11 most days). I was an accountant.
In my mid-late 20s I grew the balls to throw off the shackles of the finance world and try my hand at various other innovative, Outside the Box, obviously legit (I’m not a complete f***ing idiot) money-making schemes. I do a lot of writing online, gambling, buying and selling – anything that allows me flexible working hours and the freedom to work from anywhere.
And now, with my new found wealth and taste of freedom, I’m backpacking round the world.
So What’s My Blog About?
I’ve always been a bit of a materialistic kind of guy. I’m not ashamed to admit, I do like the finer things in life, however much at odds that may be with my new-found lifestyle backpacking.
I like nice clothes – not necessarily designer threads, but I always believe if you buy cheap, you buy twice. I believe sharply-dressed men command respect instantly – if you met Leo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Bradley Cooper in a bar, you’d want to be them instantly. Despite being a dude, I can admit that.
So I’m aiming to explore men’s style and fashion within my blog.
Fitness is also a major thing going on in my life at the moment. Years ago I was scrawny, definitely a runner rather than a body-builder. Over the last 2 years I’ve been lifting weights following a few different programmes I’ll review in my blog, and I now have real muscles. I’m not where I want to be yet though, and am still on a quest for the perfect, muscular, toned physique most guys dream of.
I’m also into gadgets and always keep up to date with the newest technologies, so articles on these topics are 100% likely to feature on my blog. I figure, if I’m going to be spending a lot of time on a laptop, I might as well have one of the best, right? Not sure how I can justify upgrading my phone on a regular basis when I’m on the move and the risks of loss/damage/theft are so high, but what can I say? We all have our vices.
As I said earlier, I can’t promise not to write about the things I love most in life just to please myself, so further articles feature are likely to be based on cars, women, sport and gambling.
Oh, and as I’m travelling the world, I might as well throw that in as well.
