“The Taj Mahal of the Mediterranean, its commanding clifftop location and magnificent Moorish architectural flourishes reinforce the grandeur of this magnificent villa. The story goes that it was built in the 1920s by a wealthy banker as a gesture of great love for his beloved. True or not, the history of this palace by the sea is inextricably linked with romance – Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton stayed here while shooting a movie in Dubrovnik. Villa Sheherezade has continued to be a popular film location and attracted such celebrities as tennis star John McEnroe. Surrounded by colourful gardens, lush with palm and cypress trees, the grounds have been lovingly nurtured, creating an oasis in which to relax. Dip a toe in the outdoor swimming pool, carved into the huge stone terrace, or head to the private beach and marvel at the views that stretch out as far as the eye can see. Step inside and a world of luxury spills out in front of you, with high ceilings and hidden alcoves, classic furnishings and sumptuous carpets. Follow the wood-panelled hallway to the grand living and lounge areas, beyond which is the Grand Salon. Upstairs are five spacious bedrooms, each as sumptuous as the next. The master bedroom, Room 1001, is so-called after the ancient book of Arabic folk tales, One Thousand and One Nights, which features a Persian king and his wife Sheherezade, after whom the villa is named. Leading off it is a large and luxurious bathroom, with its own whirlpool bath and balcony. Our sleek and modern top-floor room is kitted out with an array of entertaining gadgets and hi-tech entertainment. Should you have any special requests, a 24-hour butler is on hand to see to all your needs, leaving you to relax in unrivalled comfort.” Amenities:
